MANUAL BRUSHING TECHNIQUE FOR TEETH AND USE OF THE DENTAL THREAD
Having a correct brushing technique is the first step to achieve healthy teeth and gums.
A good technique for brushing teeth
Having a correct brushing technique is the first step to achieve healthy teeth and gums. In addition, it will help reduce the risk of tooth decay and periodontal disease, the main causes of tooth loss.
Before starting
Although there are several techniques for brushing your teeth with a manual toothbrush, it is essential to ask your dental professional for advice and correctly follow their instructions. To get started, use a fluoride toothpaste and a soft-filament toothbrush that should be changed every three months.
Two minutes, twice a day
For a proper brushing, spend at least two minutes brushing your teeth with a recommended brushing technique, which consists of brushing each quadrant of the mouth for 30 seconds (upper right, upper left, lower right, lower left) in the morning and at night. Since most manual toothbrushes don't have two-minute timers, keep a watch on hand to make sure you brush for the necessary amount of time.
Toothbrush position
The position of the toothbrush will vary depending on the area of the tooth being brushed.
Step 1: start with the exterior and interior surfaces; Brush them at a 45-degree angle with small movements that cover half of the tooth toward the gum line. Be sure to reach the molars.
Step 2: Keep brushing the chewing surfaces. Hold the brush horizontally and brush these areas in a forward and backward motion.
Step 3: When you get to the inside of the incisor teeth, tilt the brush vertically and make gentle up and down movements with the brush head
Step 4: Be sure to gently brush the area of the gum line.
Step 5: Brush your tongue in a back-and-forth sweeping motion to remove food particles and odor-causing bacteria for fresh breath.
Now that you know the correct brushing technique, with a little discipline in your daily practice you will make it a regular occurrence. This is one of the easiest things you can do to take care of the health of your teeth and gums.
Technique for proper use of dental floss
Use about 45 cm of dental floss to provide a clean piece of floss for each tooth throughout the cleaning process.
Insert the C-shaped thread between the sides of each tooth and move it up and down.
Don't forget to floss your teeth across the back of all four quadrant teeth.
A proper brushing and flossing technique as part of your oral care routine is one of the most important components in achieving plaque-free teeth and lasting protection of your teeth and gums.
