Veneers may be the best solution to hide minor tooth imperfections or discoloration problems.
There are many people with dentures who have breaks, gaps, discolorations or blackened areas. In some cases, damaged or imperfect teeth are responsible for loss of confidence and self-esteem. Here is an effective and inexpensive remedy for this problem: dental veneers. Why are they a good aesthetic solution for your mouth?
Dental veneers, what are they
First of all, clarify that this is a strictly aesthetic intervention and in no case the solution to any dental problem. Veneers are a coating that is placed on the teeth, that is, they cannot be used to replace any dental part.
For crooked teeth, veneers will be placed over these teeth simply to cover up the problem, but they do not correct the position. The same goes for the separate pieces, the veneer will cover the gap, but will not bring the teeth together as oral appliances do.
Dental veneers, how they are used
To place a veneer on the tooth, the first thing is to prepare the piece. Each type of veneer requires a different type of treatment, as we will see later. In most cases it requires filing some teeth, so that they do not bulge too much and fix properly. Then they are placed on the tooth by means of a specific paste that will harden and permanently adhere to the piece.
Once fixed, they hardly require maintenance, especially if the highest quality models are chosen. The most economical ones can yellow over time or crack, so you will have to return to the dentist from time to time.
The different types of dental veneers
There are different types of veneers that can be grouped into two groups, composite veneers and porcelain veneers. They differ in durability, color, gloss, and price:
Composite: Composite veneers are those that are made from a paste that is molded into the desired shape. This type of material is less resistant than porcelain, but it is cheaper. There are two ways to make the veneer; directly on the tooth or prefabricated and placed afterwards. The former are manufactured directly on the tooth. It is the fastest and cheapest system, although it offers fewer guarantees and requires some maintenance. Of course, they are always a better solution than an unsightly mouth. The second ones, called Componeer, are also made of composite, but in this case pre-made and very thin. They have a great advantage and that is that they are more aesthetic. Its price is cheaper than porcelain.
Porcelain: Porcelain veneers are of higher quality than composite veneers, requiring little or no maintenance by the dentist. There are also various types based on quality and aesthetics. The classic porcelain veneers are created in a laboratory and placed on the tooth after preparation. They have greater durability than those of composite and, in addition, they provide a more natural color and shine. Lumineers veneers are also porcelain. The big difference with the ones mentioned above is that they are much finer, giving the most natural appearance possible.
