In addition to affecting the health of your mouth and the appearance of your teeth, poor oral hygiene generates bacteria that reproduce and travel through the body, causing various diseases, according to the specialist José Salvador Cabrera Benavides.
"Poor oral hygiene not only affects the aesthetics of the smile, it can also cause serious health problems, such as rheumatic fever or heart disease," said the head of the Stomatology service at IMSS in Jalisco.
For this reason, it is important to cultivate the habit of cleaning, because bacteria accumulate in the mouth that predispose the body to develop such pathologies.

Floss your teeth. The harmful microorganisms are derived many times from the tartar accumulated in dental pieces that are not brushed frequently and through which the dental floss is not passed.
Go to the dentist every six months or at least every year. Those who already have some pathology, may require continuous visits to consultation until regularizing their state of health.
Remember that bacteria reproduce excessively and can travel through the body, affecting organs as important as the heart. The result may be an acute myocardial infarction. There is also the risk of rheumatic fever, an inflammatory disease, a consequence of infectious processes.
Do not risk it! Maintain good hygiene. Taking care of your oral health will allow you to protect your overall health. If in doubt, consult your doctor.
