- Flossing is not important: When we think of oral hygiene, dental brushing comes to mind. At the same time, using dental flossing is considered less important. However, even if brushing helps to clean the teeth surface, there are areas where this cannot reach, in this case it’s when dental flossing is necessary.
- The harder you brush, the cleaner your teeth: Brushing too hard or with a hard-bristle brush can damage your teeth and wear away your enamel causing cavities and gum recession.
- Pregnancy causes mom’s tooth loss due to lack of calcium:Hormonal alterations that happen during pregnancy causes a greater risk for gingivitis and cavities. Therefore, pregnant ladies must maximize oral care and visit their dentist regularly during pregnancy to avoid bigger problems.
- Bad teeth and gums are hereditary: The size and shape of your mouth as well as bone structure are genetically inherited, this will determine your teeth alignment. What is not hereditary are bad teeth, damaged gums or a tendency to lose teeth. Your teeth and gums health is directly associated with proper oral care.
- After eating, brush your teeth as soon as possible: This is not correct since after eating there are changes in the pH of your mouth which means that the acid present could damage your teeth enamel.
